Being Outdoors

Remember the good ole days when….

…there were only 3 channels on the television and you had to get up to change the channel?

            -exercise: stretching, bending, standing, sitting, range-of-motion, less distraction

childhood games and toys didn’t plug into the wall

            -exercise: football, hop-scotch, jump rope, jacks, walking, running, softball, volleyball, badminton, horseshoes/ring-toss, tennis, tether-ball,
              kick-ball…(SOCIALIZATION!)

there were no drive-thrus

            -exercise: walking, standing, sitting, bending, reaching

you walked to school

            -exercise: walking, running, lifting (carrying books); very little childhood obesity and Type II Diabetes!

...when your backyard was your solace when the weather permitted. 

            -exercise: bending, stooping, reaching, walking, lifting, standing, sitting, socializing and enjoying nature...."What's that?" you say? 

Gardens give an abundance of health benefits to enjoy for generations!  Plants, trees, and vines offer flora (natural and agricultural) to be used for medicinal and nutritional benefits.  Flora also offers natural beauty and life support systems for animal life, which help keep the balance of our environment.  The corresponding photos are an example of the recreation afforded with a well-attended yard.  Our yards should serve as our home during the summer months, giving rest to our indoor dwelling.
