Each of our education programs come with energy, sincerity, and motivation to encourage you to make changes in your lifestyle.  These changes ultimately will not only decrease risk factors for cancer, but may improve other chronic health disease conditions, which can lead to optimal health benefits!

  • Down Home Healthy Living

What ever happened to the good ole days?  Remember working in the garden with your grandparents, or parents?  What happened to the fruit trees that used to grow in the neighborhood where families would spend countless hours preparing jams, preserves, and canned goods for storage?

Down Home Healthy Living (DHHL) looks at cultural eating habits and offers suggestions on healthier alternatives that don't completely remove the culture, but improves the benefits of what is being consumed.

  • At First Glance

The outer appearance of a man doesn't always reflect the status of his health.

This program was designed by IPFW student, Justin Beal.  "Men have an outward appearance that is deceiving", he stated.  We developed a program that addresses awareness issues on prostate cancer, stroke, and HIV/AIDS.  A program delivered by men, for men, only!

  • Colorful Transitions

Support is always important when dealing with difficult situations such as cancer, or caring for someone with cancer.  FWAACA offers culturally sensitive support programs for men and women, facilitated by skilled professionals.

  • Prevention Clinic

A unique collaboration of the Allen County Health Disparity Coalition.  FWAACA, the brainchild of this effort has brought community health, education, and social organizations to provide free health screenings to individuals that have inadequate health coverage.  Referrals are made to appropriate health care agencies that will support these individuals regardless of their ability to pay for services.

    For More Information...

  • Resource Room

Our resource room is available for access to trusted health care information.  Information on several chronic diseases is available as well as Internet access in a private setting.

  • Shop Talk

FWAACA understands the dynamics of reaching various populations.  Shop Talk brings education interventions right to the barber or beauty shop while you wait.  A wonderful way to stimulate conversation among patrons regarding health awareness issues.

  • Advocacy

FWAACA volunteers are dedicated to advocating for increased funding for prevention and research dollars.  FWAACA volunteers make annual trips to the Statehouse, as well as trips to Washington to advocate with legislators on issues that will affect you, our community.  If you wish to join us, please contact our office for more information.
